The Saturday Skirls | The Hairst Sessions | Artist Info | What's On The Hairst Sessions The 'Hairst', an old Scots word meaning harvest, boasts some of the finest Scottish folk musicians and singers from Angus and the surrounding area. This Angus Summers Arts Festival, now in the 9th year, is the event to visit to hear live acoustic, spontaneous, traditional Scottish music. The Hairst begins with Mike Ward and the Fisherman's Friends. Mike Ward is the dynamic fiddler from the Tannahill Weavers, Alba and Fon a Bhord with subtle accompaniment from the Fisherman's Friends. With key artists performing in venues throughout Angus, The Hairst festival is a must for all tourists, visitors and locals alike. There are live folk music sessions somewhere near you from Saturday the 4th of July to Sunday the 23rd of August. Come along, listen and join in in these open session and enjoy the best of Angus traditional music and song. Saturday Skirls Look out and listen for the pipers, accordionists, fiddlers and more filing the Angus air with the Sounds of Scotland. From July 4th to August the 15th some of Scotland's top musiciand, who just happen to live in the Angus area, will delight you with their music from 12 noon 'till 2pm. All performances are outdoors, in the event of inclement weather the performance may be cancelled. Colin Dakers
