The Hairst 2009 programme will soon be published meanwhile we have kept the 2008 programme available to give you a taste of the FestivalThe Saturday Skirls | The Hairst Sessions | Artist Info | What's On Hairst is the Scots word for Harvest and it is our intention to gather in the very best of local, national and international performers and performances in Angus' own Harvest Festival. From this year we are aiming to host most of the staged events at the newly refurbished Webster Theatre in Arbroath. Our opening event however is to be at the Reid Hall in Forfar with Scottish Ballet performing their Summer Season programme on July 8. This year we are developing our continuing partnership with the Aberdeen International Youth Festival and bringing the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of Hong Kong on August 6 and dance groups from Belgium and Georgia on August 2. Closer to home we have four Tuesdays of Ronnie Coburn's Breath of Scotland from July 22 with guest stars The Tartan Lads and, in their 50th year in showbiz, Tom & Jack - The Alexander Brothers. Stars of the X Factor the MacDonald Brothers will be at the Webster Theatre on August 8. Last but not least is the heartbeat of The Hairst, the Saturday Skirls and the Hairst Sessions. These traditional music events are free and run from July 8 to August 24. The Saturday Skirls are 7 open air lunchtime performances in town centres, The 21 Hairst Sessions take place in pubs and hotels throughout Angus on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
